A local event whose aim was to present the PASSAGE project was held by Casa do Professor on 30 November at CIOR (Vila Nova de Famalicão) and was attended by over 40 participants including teachers, school directors, professionals working in fields of migration and education, and psychologists.
This event was a great opportunity to present the objectives, partners and expected impacts of this project on the integration process of migrant and refugee pupils in Portuguese schools as well as to highlight the outputs of Work Package 2 – Capacity building of professionals, role-models and stakeholders, namely the online training course “How to welcome migrant and refugee pupils in my classroom”, the workshop addressed to teachers “Mentoring and Role Models in Supporting the Integration of Migrant and Refugee Pupils”, the website of the project containing all the desk research as well as the toolkit developed by all the partners and available for teachers.

During this event, teachers were explained that the piloting phase is being implemented in 10 schools in Braga until the end of December, where a total of sixty Portuguese pupils were selected to become role-models in a peer-to-peer mentoring perspective and are actively contributing to the successful integration of sixty newly-arrived pupils coming from third countries (mentees) also involved in this programme.
This local event was a good way to disseminate the PASSAGE project, developed by seven organizations of six countries, and to encourage participants to get acquainted with the tools and resources that will empower teachers to deal more effectively with systematic pedagogical challenges.
